KBO Asks MLB to Post Hanwha Slugger Roh Si-hwan
Hanwha’s long-term agreement permits Roh to pursue MLB after the 2026 season and return to the Eagles if he comes back.

The Korea Baseball Organization asked Major League Baseball on Saturday, October 31, to post Hanwha Eagles slugger Roh Si-hwan for MLB clubs. Hanwha had requested the move earlier in the day, and the KBO asked MLB to notify all 30 teams of the infielder’s availability, Yonhap reported.
The process gives MLB clubs a 30-day negotiating window once they are officially notified. That period starts at 8 a.m. ET the following day and ends at 5 p.m. ET on the 30th day. The KBO’s request initiates the process; the negotiating clock follows MLB’s notification to clubs.
Roh hit .283 with 29 home runs and 96 RBIs in 127 games for Hanwha this season. His official KBO record lists a .360 on-base percentage and .505 slugging percentage, with 143 hits and 97 runs. He drew 51 walks and struck out 147 times across 571 plate appearances. Roh ranked sixth in home runs and fifth in runs.
His production followed a 2025 season with 32 home runs and 101 RBIs in all 144 games. He also hit 31 homers and drove in 101 runs in 2023. Since 2023, Roh has totaled 116 home runs and 387 RBIs, according to Yonhap, while primarily playing third base.
Hanwha agreed in February to an 11-year contract worth up to 30.7 billion won, including options, running from 2027 through 2037. The agreement includes a clause allowing Roh to pursue MLB through the posting system after the 2026 season. Both sides agreed he would rejoin Hanwha if he returned to the KBO.
The contract was announced as the longest and most valuable in KBO history, surpassing the previous eight-year term shared by Park Min-woo and Ryu Hyun-jin. An MLB club signing Roh must also pay Hanwha a release fee based on the guaranteed value of his new contract.
