Columbus Crew midfielder Dylan Chambost has been named MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 32 after recording three assists in a 4–2 victory over Toronto FC. The league announced the honor Monday, with Columbus preparing to continue its playoff pursuit at Dallas on Wednesday.

The MLS announcement said Chambost became the sixth player in Crew history to record at least three assists in a regular-season match. He was the first to do so since Alexandru Mățan in March 2023, and the performance raised his season total to seven assists.

Two of his assists involved Malte Amundsen finishes from set-piece sequences. Chambost delivered the corner for Columbus’ second goal, then received a short-corner pass from Santiago Rodríguez before finding Amundsen again after halftime.

His third assist came on the Crew’s fourth goal in the 59th minute, when he set up Brooks Lennon. The combination of delivery from dead-ball situations and a later pass in an attacking sequence gave Columbus several different routes to production.

The victory left the Crew with 38 points and an 11–15–5 record, one point behind Red Bull New York for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot entering the next round. That context gives the award more immediate significance than an isolated individual milestone.

Columbus’ result at Dallas also features in the league’s Matchday 33 clinching scenarios. Several other Eastern teams have qualification paths that depend partly on the Crew dropping points, making their Wednesday game important beyond the two clubs involved.

Chambost won the award for the first time. He follows Orlando’s Antoine Griezmann, the Matchday 31 winner, and becomes the first Columbus player to receive the honor since Cucho Hernández in 2024.

The selection process combines a media panel with fan voting. MLS says the North American Soccer Reporters panel supplies 75 percent of the vote, with an Instagram fan vote accounting for the remaining quarter.

For Columbus, the next objective is to carry the attacking contribution into another result. The recognition marks what Chambost supplied against Toronto; the Dallas match determines whether that momentum produces further progress in the playoff race.
