The Australian MotoGP race at Phillip Island was canceled Sunday, October 25, after poor visibility prevented the medical helicopter from operating safely. The Moto2 and Moto3 races were also canceled, MotoGP confirmed.

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation said the helicopter restriction forced the cancellation of Sunday’s on-track program. Racing could not take place without that medical support available.

Yamaha’s team report explained that medical evacuation and transport to a hospital could not be guaranteed if needed. Repeated delays did not produce sufficiently improved conditions for Race Direction to allow the remaining races to proceed.

MotoGP said its riders later completed two parade laps behind the safety car and stopped on the main straight to thank the fans. Phillip Island was hosting its final Australian Grand Prix.

The event organizer announced full refunds for Sunday ticket holders and partial refunds for people with multi-day tickets. It said it was working with ticketing partners on those refunds.
