Liverpool’s Szoboszlai and Munoz Could Return Against Arsenal, Iraola Says

Andoni Iraola leaves both players’ involvement uncertain after three-match absences. Liverpool also remain without Frimpong, Bradley, Ekitike and Leoni.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz could return for Liverpool’s Premier League home match against Arsenal on Sunday, Andoni Iraola said Friday, while stopping short of confirming either player would be fit enough for the matchday squad at Anfield.

“I think they have a chance,” Iraola said in Liverpool’s official team-news report. “But I don’t know for sure if they will be involved or not.”

Szoboszlai has missed Liverpool’s last three matches with a hamstring problem after an earlier spell on the sidelines. Munoz has also been absent for three games because of the knee issue he sustained against Brentford.

During Szoboszlai’s absence, Liverpool have divided central midfield responsibilities among Alexis Mac Allister, Trey Nyoni and Ryan Gravenberch. Munoz’s injury has reduced the options available to Iraola when rotating his wide players.

The uncertainty comes during a demanding run of fixtures. Arsenal’s visit is Liverpool’s seventh match in a sequence of nine games across 28 days between international breaks, with Iraola continuing to change his team to manage the workload.

He made seven changes for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup meeting with Chelsea. Liverpool drew 1–1 before advancing 6–5 on penalties, keeping their cup campaign alive while several regular starters were left out of the initial lineup.

Jeremie Frimpong remains sidelined with a muscle injury. Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni are longer-term absentees, so the possible returns of Szoboszlai and Munoz would not clear Liverpool’s entire injury list.

Neither player was promised an immediate return to the starting side. The remaining preparation time offers a chance to demonstrate readiness, but Iraola’s comments left both selection and the extent of any involvement unresolved.

Liverpool trained at the AXA Training Centre on Friday. The Arsenal game completes a fourth consecutive home fixture for the Reds, according to the club’s account of that session.
