Bears Acquire Jeffery Simmons From Titans for Two First-Round Picks
Tennessee confirmed the deal Thursday, sending its All-Pro defensive tackle to Chicago as the Bears strengthen their defensive front.

The Chicago Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, Tennessee announced Thursday. The agreement moves an established interior defender from a struggling team to a Chicago club preparing for the second half of the NFL season.
Tennessee receives first-round selections in 2027 and 2028, plus a fourth-round pick in 2027. Chicago also receives a fifth-round selection in 2028. NFL.com reported the confirmed terms after the initial reports of an agreement.
The draft compensation makes this a substantial commitment by Chicago. Two consecutive first-round choices leave the Bears with fewer premium selections in the next two drafts, while Tennessee adds resources beyond the current campaign.
Simmons, 29, has four sacks and 38 tackles through seven starts this season, according to Reuters’ statistical account. He is a four-time Pro Bowl selection who recorded a career-high 11 sacks in 2025.
The acquisition also brings a significant existing contract. Simmons signed a three-year extension worth $105.8 million during the summer, with $100 million guaranteed, carrying his agreement through the 2030 season. The move therefore extends beyond a short rental for the remaining schedule.
Chicago entered the week at 5–2 and faces the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Tennessee started 1–6. Those records provide the immediate setting for a trade that exchanges an established player for future draft capital.
Simmons joins a defensive front that includes Grady Jarrett and is expecting Montez Sweat back from suspension. Chicago will now determine how to integrate him into its rotation and preparation for Seattle.
Tennessee selected Simmons 19th overall in the 2019 draft. He made 104 starts across 106 NFL appearances with the Tennessee franchise.
The confirmed transaction replaces the earlier reported status of the deal. Further information about Simmons’ first practice and availability will follow through the clubs’ official updates.
