Game 3 of the WNBA Finals averaged 1.71 million viewers across USA Network, CNBC and Peacock, delivering the largest audience for that stage of the championship series since 1999. The figures concern Atlanta’s October 21 game against Golden State and were released October 23.

The total combines Nielsen’s measurement of linear television viewing on USA Network and CNBC with Adobe Analytics’ measurement of Peacock streaming, Sports Media Watch reported. The combined figure should not be described as an audience for either one cable channel or Peacock alone.

Sports Media Watch identified the 1999 Liberty–Comets deciding game on NBC, which averaged 3.25 million, as the last larger Finals Game 3. It also placed the 2026 telecast third among WNBA Finals games on cable, behind the 2024 Lynx–Liberty Game 5 and last year’s Mercury–Aces opener.

It was the twelfth consecutive WNBA Finals game averaging more than one million viewers, SMW reported.

The game was played Wednesday after being moved from Thursday to accommodate State Farm Arena’s availability. That change put it opposite the first full night of the NBA season rather than Thursday Night Football. Scheduling is part of the context, but the reported figures do not isolate the effect of that move.

Atlanta won 97–71 to take a 2–1 series lead. Angel Reese contributed to a performance that gave the Dream control of the game, as covered in TSP’s Game 3 report. The ratings describe that completed telecast, rather than a forecast for the remaining Finals games.

Just Women’s Sports also reported the 1.71 million audience. As with TSP’s earlier comparison of the Finals opener and ESPN’s playoff coverage, different platforms and samples must remain attached to their respective numbers. A single game average cannot establish a leaguewide postseason average or the number of unique fans reached across the entire series.
