Will Anderson Jr. recorded three sacks as the Houston Texans earned their first win of the season, beating the Tennessee Titans 26-3 on Sunday, October 11, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Houston improved to 1-4 and left Tennessee at 0-5. The Titans scored on their opening drive but were held scoreless for the remainder of the game, according to Field Level Media’s report.

Anderson repeatedly disrupted Cam Ward, including two sacks on Tennessee’s final possession. Danielle Hunter also recorded a sack as Houston limited the Titans to 187 total yards.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans took over defensive play-calling before the game. The response came against a division opponent in a matchup of teams that had both started 0-4, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked four first-half field goals, giving Houston a 12-3 halftime lead. The Texans then finished drives with touchdowns after the break.

C.J. Stroud scored on a two-yard run in the third quarter and threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jaylin Noel in the fourth. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 261 yards, as reflected in Houston’s official game coverage.

Running back David Montgomery left with a groin injury and did not return. Woody Marks handled the larger rushing workload in his absence.

Tennessee has now lost seven consecutive games dating to last season.
