Stephen Curry has signed a contract extension with the Golden State Warriors that is worth $116 million over two years, according to ESPN, potentially keeping him with the franchise through the 2028–29 season.
The Warriors confirmed the extension without disclosing financial terms. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the agreement includes a player option for the final season, which would be Curry’s 20th with the team that drafted him.
The new deal follows the $62.6 million extension covering 2026–27 that Curry signed in 2024. It adds two seasons beyond that existing commitment and removes his approaching free agency as an immediate question for Golden State.
Curry was eligible for a two-year extension worth about $136.7 million. The reported agreement comes in below that figure, with ESPN reporting that the reduced amount was intended to give the Warriors more flexibility to construct their roster next offseason.
The 38-year-old enters the new season after injuries limited him to 43 games in 2025–26. He nevertheless averaged 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds, remaining Golden State’s leading offensive figure while dealing with a prolonged knee problem.
The Warriors finished 37–45, their worst record in a full-length season since 2010–11. Curry said before the extension was completed that he did not want contract discussions to become a distraction as the team prepared for training camp.
Golden State selected Curry seventh overall in the 2009 draft. He has since won four championships, two regular-season MVP awards and a Finals MVP award with the club, while becoming the NBA’s career leader in made three-pointers.
The extension also creates a route to a rare longevity milestone. Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant and Udonis Haslem are the only players to have spent at least 20 NBA seasons with one franchise.
Curry would join that group if he plays through the option year. His contract provides the opportunity, although the decision on that final season remains his under the reported terms.
For Golden State, the agreement settles its central offseason contract question before practices begin. The next task is preparing a roster around Curry after a season in which his availability was repeatedly interrupted.
