NEW YORK — Pete Alonso hit the 300th home run of his major-league career Tuesday night at Citi Field, reaching the milestone against the organization for which he spent his first seven MLB seasons.

Now with the Baltimore Orioles, Alonso connected against Mets right-hander Kodai Senga in the top of the ninth inning. The solo home run to left-center tied the game 3-3 before Baltimore went on to win 7-5 in 11 innings. It was Alonso’s 36th home run of the 2026 season.
“No. 300, it’s a nice round number. But I’m just so proud of this group.”
Alonso made the comment after the game in MLB.com’s account of the milestone.
Alonso hit a Mets-record 264 home runs in 1,008 games for New York from 2019 through 2025 before joining Baltimore, which signed him to a five-year, $155 million contract last December. His 300th career homer was the 124th he has hit at Citi Field, but the first there while wearing another team’s uniform.
The Citi Field crowd gave Alonso a loud ovation as he rounded the bases. Fans then called him out of the visiting third-base dugout for a curtain call. The reception followed a tribute video and repeated chants of his name during his return to the ballpark earlier in the series.
Alonso became the 19th active major leaguer to reach 300 career home runs. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he was also the 20th player in AL/NL history to hit his 300th homer against a former club. The most recent before him was Andrew McCutchen, who reached 300 with Pittsburgh against Philadelphia in 2024.
Elias also notes that only Ralph Kiner, with 329, and Albert Pujols, with 319, hit more home runs during their first eight major-league seasons.
He did not remain at 300 for long. Alonso homered again Wednesday night in Baltimore’s 7-1 win over the Mets, giving him 301 career home runs and 37 this season.
