Mason Miller was placed on the postseason paternity list Tuesday, October 6, with Wandy Peralta taking his place on the San Diego Padres’ National League Division Series roster, Major League Baseball announced.

Miller missed San Diego’s 4-3 Game 3 victory over Milwaukee. MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell reported that the closer could return for Game 4 on Wednesday.

“That’s what we’re anticipating,” pitching coach Ruben Niebla told MLB.com. Miller’s return had not been confirmed in that report.

Players on the postseason paternity list may be away for one to three days. MLB said Miller would replace Peralta on the active roster when he returned.

Miller posted a 1.67 ERA in 66 regular-season appearances. Until he rejoins the team, Peralta gives San Diego another left-handed option in its bullpen.
