Nico Collins returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, taking part in Houston’s preparations for Dallas after a hamstring injury kept him out of the previous two games.
The Texans had not confirmed the wide receiver’s availability for Sunday. His return was his first practice participation since September 16 and preceded the team’s final Week 4 injury designations.
Houston is 0–3 and will host a Cowboys team that enters at 1–2. The Texans have played their last two games without Collins after losing their season opener 36–31 to Buffalo.
Collins caught seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Bills on September 13. He then missed Weeks 2 and 3 after the hamstring problem developed during the following practice week.
The receiver has topped 1,000 yards in each of the past three seasons and has earned two Pro Bowl selections. His career-high receiving total was 1,297 yards in 2023, when he emerged as one of C.J. Stroud’s main targets.
Guard Ed Ingram also returned to practice Wednesday. A groin injury had kept him out of Houston’s previous two games, leaving the Texans to make changes to their offensive line during that stretch.
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was back on the practice field as well, although coach DeMeco Ryans said his status remained week to week. Clowney appeared on the injury report with a knee issue.
Houston has scored a combined 23 points during the two games Collins missed. The receiver’s last appearance was the 31-point opener against Buffalo, when his seven catches included one of Houston’s touchdowns.
Dallas comes to Houston after losing 34–31 to Baltimore in Brazil. The Cowboys’ previous win came against Washington in Week 2, leaving them one victory ahead of the Texans entering Sunday’s matchup.
Collins’ limited participation records a return to some practice work, with his game status still to be decided. Houston’s final injury report will also address the players who returned alongside him and Al-Shaair’s availability.
