Fowler makes 30 saves as Canadiens beat Red Wings 1–0 in shootout
Bolduc scores the winner in the sixth round.

Jacob Fowler stopped all 30 Detroit shots and Zachary Bolduc scored the shootout winner as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Red Wings 1–0 at Bell Centre on Saturday.
Fowler and Detroit’s Daniil Tarasov kept the game scoreless through three regulation periods and overtime. Tarasov also made 30 saves, with neither team able to convert its 30 shots on goal into a regulation or overtime winner.
The shootout remained scoreless until Bolduc beat Tarasov in the sixth round. Fowler then denied Detroit’s sixth attempt, by Nate Danielson, to complete the victory.
The deciding shootout goal supplies the 1–0 final score. It does not count as a regular individual goal, and both goaltenders receive credit for a shutout because neither allowed a goal during regulation or overtime.
Fowler played 64:46 in the official game record, while Tarasov was credited with the full 65 minutes. The Canadiens used Fowler throughout the shootout; the official save totals refer to shots faced before that tiebreaker.
Montreal improved to 2–2–1. Detroit moved to 1–3–1 and earned one standings point despite the shootout defeat.
Bolduc’s successful attempt ended a night in which the goaltenders answered every shot during the game itself. Montreal took the additional point after the teams reached the tiebreaker with the score still 0–0.
