“Yamamoto, Yamamoto. I told you about Yamamoto. I told you about Yamamoto,” Derek Jeter said.
Jeter was speaking on FOX’s postgame show after the Dodgers beat the Braves 3-1 in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 6, taking a 2-1 lead in the National League Division Series.

“The guy is unbelievable. I mean, he had 10 strikeouts today. We were all saying, ‘Why take him out?’ You know what I mean? Just keep him in there. But no one knows the team better than Dave Roberts.”
“But the Dodgers, these are the type of games that they win. They find a way to get it done. It starts with starting pitching. They have a plethora of starting pitching. But in my mind, Yamamoto. Dodger fans, Yamamoto.”
Willis on Yamamoto’s mound presence

Dontrelle Willis discussed Yamamoto’s mound presence and pitch movement.
“I love the mound presence by him. You see the depth change with that breaking ball,” Willis said.
“You see the depth change, you see the movement, but most importantly you see the mound presence.”

“This is a very talented Braves lineup, a very experienced Braves lineup. And up and down that lineup, he had velocity, he had movement. It seemed like nobody was comfortable. And that’s why every time he goes out there, the Dodgers expect him to have double-digit strikeouts like he had tonight.”
Willis on Díaz’s ninth inning
Willis also discussed Edwin Díaz’s ninth inning.
“You look at Díaz getting the command back of not only that fastball, but that slider as well.”
“And tonight, you saw ice water in his veins, throwing triple digits and not getting rattled, even when giving up a ball off the wall. He still stayed poised and got the outs he needed to.”
“That is a huge boost to that bullpen. And now you see even more length and depth to that Dodgers bullpen and staff.”
