Connor Bedard took part in full-contact practice with the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, October 11, marking another step toward his return after offseason surgery on his left shoulder.

Bedard wore a regular red jersey and participated in every drill after skating in a non-contact jersey earlier in the week, NHL.com reported. Chicago has not announced a return date.

Medical clearance comes next

The captain still needs approval from his doctors before playing. Coach Jeff Blashill did not confirm whether Bedard would be available against Pittsburgh at United Center on Tuesday, October 13.

Bedard injured the shoulder during a July 2 training session in Vancouver and underwent surgery days later. He resumed skating with teammates on October 5.

Sunday’s line rushes placed him at center between Roman Kantserov and Patrick Kane. That practice combination does not establish a confirmed game lineup.

Chicago has opened the season 1-5-0. Bedard led the team last season with 75 points, including 30 goals and 45 assists, and was named captain in September.

Pro Hockey Rumors also reported the practice milestone. His availability remains dependent on medical clearance.
