Anton Forsberg made 24 saves as the Kings beat Anaheim 2-1 on Wednesday, responding to an uneven first preseason outing with a steadier night in goal. All three goals came in the opening period.
Ethan Procyszyn put the Ducks ahead before Alex Laferriere and Joel Armia scored for Los Angeles. Forsberg then held Anaheim scoreless through the remaining two periods to protect the one-goal lead.
The performance followed his exhibition debut against Vegas, when he allowed three goals on 16 shots. He faced 25 shots against Anaheim and stopped all but the first-period opener.
Forsberg is expected to begin the season behind Darcy Kuemper, according to RotoWire, although their eventual share of starts remains unsettled. Wednesday gave Los Angeles a stronger performance from a goaltender whose first exhibition had been less convincing.
