The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers will have several 9 p.m. Mountain Time starts this winter after Alberta’s move to permanent daylight time, according to an Associated Press report published Thursday.
The official NHL schedules list eight Calgary games and seven Edmonton games in that slot. Calgary’s home dates include December 26 against Vancouver and January 16 against Los Angeles.
Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia will keep daylight time instead of turning clocks back in November and forward in March. That changes their winter relationship with places that continue to adjust their clocks.
Calgary’s first 9 p.m. Mountain Time start is November 4 in Seattle. The Flames also have November road games at that hour in Los Angeles on the 14th and San Jose on the 17th.
Edmonton hosts Vancouver at 9 p.m. on November 7. A January trip includes starts at that hour in Vegas, Los Angeles and San Jose on January 20, 21 and 23.
Flames president Robert Hayes said the start times are outside the team’s control. Edmonton also hosts Chicago at 9 p.m. on March 6.
