“We didn’t get the big hit at the big time,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Milwaukee’s 4-3 loss to San Diego in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday, October 6.
Asked about Milwaukee’s offensive approach and its scoring opportunities, Murphy said the Brewers struck out in key situations, according to the ASAP Sports transcript of his postgame press conference.
Milwaukee outhit San Diego 11-6 in the Game 3 loss. The Padres had no errors; the Brewers committed one.
Asked to assess Dustin May’s start, Murphy singled out Jackson Merrill’s gap catches and the free bases Milwaukee surrendered through walks, stolen bases, a wild pitch and an error.
“Then the hard contacts we did have, they caught a lot of the time.”
