Jalon Daniels’ Week 5 Fantasy result and the next quarterback decision
Jalon Daniels remains likely to start while Baker Mayfield recovers. Compare that opportunity with the current Baltimore, Atlanta and Washington decisions.

Jalon Daniels remains a conditional Week 6 option
Updated October 14, 2026 · 5:07 p.m. Mountain Time.
Tampa Bay’s October 14 update says Jalon Daniels remains likely to make a third consecutive start. Baker Mayfield did not practice, and Todd Bowles said a throwing assessment was needed to determine his return timetable. Daniels belongs in a superflex or two-quarterback comparison while that opportunity remains open.
In a one-quarterback league, compare Daniels with healthy confirmed starters before using a roster spot. His completed Week 5 line remains 189 passing yards, one passing touchdown and 23 rushing yards. The Dallas game is finished; its opponent and lineup deadline do not apply to Sunday’s visit from Pittsburgh.
Tyler Huntley remains cover for a Lamar Jackson manager because Jackson did not practice Wednesday. Atlanta’s situation moved in a different direction: Michael Penix Jr. practiced fully and took all starting reps. Tua Tagovailoa remains a contingency option rather than the expected starter.
Keep Jalon Daniels and Washington’s Jayden Daniels distinct. Jayden returned in Week 5 and scored two rushing touchdowns. Use each player’s own next availability report and the current Fantasy Pulse before locking a lineup.
October 13 update and completed Week 5 results
Completed Week 5 results and the next decision
NFL update: October 13, 2026 · 1:32 AM Mountain Time.
Week 5 is complete. Jalon Daniels’ Thursday start remains completed evidence, while the next quarterback decision depends on the new availability reports. No later starting assignment or Baker Mayfield return is established by Daniels’ previous result.
Tyler Huntley finished Sunday with 201 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing score in Baltimore’s 30–23 overtime win. Jesse Minter said Monday that Jackson’s Wednesday participation remained uncertain. Huntley is insurance where useful, particularly in superflex; the completed start does not announce Baltimore’s Week 6 starter.
Michael Penix Jr. left Sunday night with a rib injury, and Tua Tagovailoa handled overtime. Keep an eligible alternative until the next Atlanta assessment establishes availability. The current NFL Fantasy Pulse carries the completed night-game results and Week 6 injury decisions.
Preserved Week 5 report and earlier sources
Sunday update: Will Shipley was ruled out with a foot injury in London. The London lineup window is closed. Baltimore still names Huntley as its Sunday night starter with Jackson unavailable; the later inactive list remains a separate check. Current availability: October 11, 2026 at 10:43 a.m. Mountain Time.
Jalon Daniels finished Tampa Bay’s Week 5 win with 189 passing yards, one touchdown and 23 rushing yards. The Thursday lineup window is closed, leaving him as conditional insurance while Mayfield is sidelined. Lamar Jackson is now ruled out for Sunday, and Baltimore names Tyler Huntley as its starter. The remaining quarterback choice depends on the eligible players still available to your roster.
The October 8 inactive list confirms Mayfield did not play with his right thumb injury. Daniels started Tampa Bay’s completed 24–16 win. His final line was 19/25 passing for 189 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, plus seven carries for 23 yards. This is completed Week 5 evidence; a future start requires a fresh medical and quarterback assignment update.
This guide assumes redraft scoring with four points per passing touchdown, one point per 25 passing yards, one per 10 rushing yards, six per rushing touchdown and two-point deductions for interceptions and lost fumbles. PPR scoring changes the comparison for receivers and backs; Daniels’ Week 4 quarterback total is the same in the published standard and PPR records. Check your league’s scoring, player locks and actual waiver availability before making the move.
Daniels’ rushing helps, but the first start had limits
Against Green Bay on October 4, Daniels completed 19 of 27 passes for 148 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also ran eight times for 55 yards in Tampa Bay’s 17-14 loss. The completed game record and published player statistics support an 11.42-point Fantasy result under this guide’s scoring.
| Week 4 contribution | Calculation | Fantasy points |
|---|---|---|
| Passing yards | 148 divided by 25 | 5.92 |
| Passing touchdown | 1 multiplied by 4 | 4.00 |
| Interceptions | 2 multiplied by minus 2 | -4.00 |
| Rushing yards | 55 divided by 10 | 5.50 |
| Total | No rushing touchdown or lost fumble | 11.42 |
The 5.5 rushing points account for nearly half that total. They give Daniels a way to contribute when passing production is modest, but one start does not establish a dependable rushing workload. His 63 published offensive snaps, representing Tampa Bay’s full offensive total, establish that he handled the starting assignment. They do not establish production in a future starting assignment.
The earlier Dallas matchup figures provide context for the completed Thursday game, rather than a forecast for Tampa Bay’s next opponent. Daniels’ final Week 5 line was 19/25 for 189 yards and a touchdown, with seven carries for 23 yards. His published gamebook playtime was 72 offensive snaps, marked unofficial. Future opportunities depend on the next starting assignment.
The decision changes with your quarterback slots
In a one-quarterback league, Daniels belongs in the comparison when your usual starter is unavailable or on bye. A manager who already has a healthy, established starter does not need to replace him simply because Daniels has a favorable-looking opponent. The rookie’s rushing is useful, but his limited passing output and two interceptions are part of the same evidence. Check both your alternative’s current availability and his starting role before choosing.
In superflex or a league requiring two quarterbacks, securing an available NFL starter has greater practical value because the position pool is thinner. Daniels can fill a vacancy where the alternative is a reserve with no starting assignment or a non-quarterback in the flexible slot. That is a reason to consider an add, rather than an assertion that every quarterback will beat every receiver or running back. Compare the actual players and your scoring before using him.
Keep Mayfield if your roster has a sensible way to carry the injury. Use an injured-reserve slot only if your platform’s designation permits it, and check the effect on future adds. The club’s current absence reporting does not supply a fixed return date. Daniels’ value is tied to the starting opportunity while Mayfield is sidelined, so a short-term replacement does not automatically require a large waiver-budget commitment.
Jackson’s absence settles the remaining quarterback choice
Baltimore ruled Jackson out Friday with his ankle injury and named Huntley as its starter. Choose an eligible quarterback before that player locks. The earlier uncertainty has ended for Week 5, although the club has not announced Jackson’s return date.
Baltimore plays Atlanta Sunday, October 11, at 6:20 p.m. Mountain Time. Daniels’ Thursday slot has closed. Compare Huntley with confirmed available starters whose games have not begun; the late Baltimore kickoff does not make an unavailable earlier quarterback usable.
A Jackson manager in a one-quarterback league should compare the best available starters rather than collect backups without a lineup purpose. Huntley’s announced start makes him eligible for that discussion. In superflex, the additional quarterback slot can make his opportunity more useful.
Check Tampa Bay’s receivers separately
Chris Godwin caught six passes for 31 yards on seven targets in Daniels’ first start, according to the Buccaneers’ preview. That involvement keeps him in a PPR lineup comparison, while the yardage limits what those catches alone establish. Keep his own health and your other receiver options in the decision; a quarterback change does not automatically make every Tampa Bay pass-catcher unusable or guarantee that last week’s distribution will repeat.
Follow Tampa Bay’s next medical update and quarterback assignment before a future Daniels start. The current Fantasy Pulse and Tampa Bay chart carry the completed result and published gamebook playtime. Current availability: October 11, 2026 at 10:43 a.m. Mountain Time. The earlier first-start analysis retains its original game date.
The final reports for the remaining Sunday and Monday games are published. Game-day inactive lists still control eligibility. Published Thursday snap counts now corroborate Daniels’ 72 offensive snaps in the gamebook, whose playtime page remains marked unofficial. This supplies completed workload evidence while Tampa Bay’s next quarterback assignment remains unannounced. Availability as of October 11, 2026 at 10:43 a.m. Mountain Time.
