“It’s a team game, and we totally got away from it today,” Marco Sturm said after the Boston Bruins lost 4–1 to the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden on October 5.

In the Bruins’ posted postgame interview, Sturm was asked whether playing three games in four nights had contributed to the performance. He acknowledged the travel but called it “not an excuse.” He said Boston had moved away from its details and structure.

Asked about the power play, Sturm said he had reunited players who had chemistry together last season to give them some comfort. He said he could not yet explain why it had gone the other way and would review the clips.

Tim Stützle scored twice in the first period, including a shorthanded goal at 7:39. Ottawa led 4–0 before James Hagens scored Boston’s goal in the third. The Senators outshot the Bruins 24–19.

Ottawa coach Travis Green was asked for his assessment of the road win.

“Our guys were prepared to play the type of game that we needed to to win,” Green said.

Green also addressed Linus Ullmark’s exit. He said the goalie had “tweaked something a little bit” in a collision around the crease and that the decision to remove him was precautionary. Samuel Ersson played the third period. Green said Ullmark would be evaluated again.
