Contreras’ homer gives Milwaukee Game 1

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 3–2 at American Family Field on October 3, 2026, taking a 1–0 lead in their best-of-five National League Division Series. William Contreras broke a 2–2 tie with a two-out solo homer to center off Adrian Morejon in the seventh inning, and Milwaukee’s bullpen held the lead through the ninth.

San Diego scored twice in the second. Luis Campusano’s single brought home Xander Bogaerts, and Jake Cronenworth’s fielder’s choice scored Ethan Salas. Jackson Chourio tied it in the third with a two-run homer to left-center off Robbie Ray, scoring Garrett Mitchell.

Jacob Misiorowski struck out six over four innings for Milwaukee, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while throwing 88 pitches. Five Brewers relievers followed with five scoreless innings. Aaron Ashby retired all five batters he faced, and DL Hall stranded three inherited runners in the seventh before earning the win. Morejon took the loss after allowing one run on three hits over two innings; Ray allowed two runs in 2⅔ innings.

Trevor Megill recorded the final four outs for the save, striking out Fernando Tatis Jr. to leave runners at the corners in the eighth. Dustin Harris singled to start the ninth, but Megill struck out Manny Machado and retired Ty France on a flyout to Chourio. San Diego’s challenge over whether France’s ball was fair or foul was unsuccessful, with the call upheld. Jackson Merrill then lined out to right fielder Luis Lara to end the game. Megill allowed one hit, struck out two and threw 17 pitches.

The Padres finished with nine hits but left 12 runners on base. Milwaukee had seven hits and left nine aboard. The final score, scoring plays and complete pitching lines appear below.
