The Los Angeles Rams expect Puka Nacua to return against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday after the receiver missed two games, coach Sean McVay said Wednesday.
Nacua was set for limited work in practice, with McVay pointing to progress in a Sunday workout and the team’s latest walkthrough. The coach’s expectation gives Los Angeles an encouraging outlook ahead of Week 4, though it is not a final game-status designation.
The Rams’ update lists Nacua with a hip injury. McVay previously described the problem that followed the September 17 practice as groin soreness. Nacua last played in the season opener against San Francisco, catching five passes for 74 yards.
His return would restore an established connection in Matthew Stafford’s offense.
Davante Adams and Konata Mumpfield supplied receiving contributions during Nacua’s absence against Denver, as the Rams detailed in their postgame coverage. Having Nacua available again would give Stafford another established target as Los Angeles prepares for Philadelphia.
The remaining practices and final injury report will establish whether Wednesday’s optimism becomes a Sunday return.
