Pritchard reportedly agrees to $44.2 million Celtics extension
The reported two-year agreement keeps Payton Pritchard in Boston and includes a mutual option for 2029–30.

Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $44.2 million, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday. Charania attributed the agreement to Pritchard’s agents, Austin Brown and Max Saidman.
The reported deal includes a mutual option for the 2029–30 season. That arrangement requires agreement from both sides for the option year, leaving Boston and Pritchard a decision about their longer-term commitment.
Pritchard, 28, averaged a career-high 17 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists last season, according to NBA.com. His role expanded after he won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2024–25 campaign, when he averaged 14.3 points.
Boston selected him 26th overall in the 2020 draft out of Oregon. He was part of the Celtics’ 2024 championship team and has increased his scoring from 9.3 points per game in 2023–24 to his latest career high. The reported extension follows that growth in his scoring and playmaking responsibilities.
