How Atlanta won Game 1
Austin Riley hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to lift Atlanta past Philadelphia 5–3 in Game 1 of their best-of-three National League Wild Card Series at Truist Park.
The Braves trailed 3–2 before Riley’s drive to right-center scored Michael Harris II and Ozzie Albies. Atlanta took a 1–0 series lead.
Philadelphia struck first when Alec Bohm doubled home Kyle Schwarber in the opening inning. Mike Yastrzemski tied it with an RBI single in the second, and Albies’ sixth-inning triple put Atlanta ahead.
J.T. Realmuto then delivered a two-run triple in the seventh, scoring Bryan De La Cruz and Bryson Stott to give Philadelphia a 3–2 lead. Riley supplied the decisive response an inning later.
Atlanta finished with seven hits to Philadelphia’s six. Neither team committed an error. Chris Sale started for the Braves and Jesús Luzardo for the Phillies.
