SAN FRANCISCO — Alex Call hit a go-ahead double and Andy Pages followed with a three-run homer in the 10th inning Sunday, lifting the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5–1 victory over the San Francisco Giants and their 100th win of the regular season.
The Dodgers completed a three-game sweep at Oracle Park and finished 100–62. Los Angeles will begin its postseason in the National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium on Saturday after receiving a first-round bye.
Call’s two-out double scored automatic runner Miguel Rojas to break a 1–1 tie in the 10th. With Max Muncy also aboard, Pages drove his 23rd home run to left field to give Los Angeles a four-run cushion.
Pages accounted for four of the Dodgers’ five RBIs. His fourth-inning sacrifice fly had tied the game after Scott Bandura’s RBI single put San Francisco ahead in the second.
Los Angeles used seven pitchers, who combined for 16 strikeouts and allowed five hits. Jack Dreyer gave up the Giants’ only run over the first two innings. Justin Wrobleski followed with two scoreless innings. Bobby Miller later struck out five over two scoreless frames.
Roki Sasaki, Edwin Díaz, Alex Vesia and Evan Phillips each worked an inning without allowing a run. Vesia earned the victory after pitching the ninth. Phillips struck out two in the 10th and kept San Francisco’s automatic runner from scoring.
Muncy went 2 for 3 with a double and two walks. Tommy Edman also had two hits and a double, while Shohei Ohtani singled once in three at-bats. The Dodgers finished with eight hits and six walks.
Duncan Davitt took the loss for San Francisco after allowing the four runs in the 10th, three of them earned. The Giants ended their season at 65–97.
It was the sixth 100-win season under Dave Roberts, tying the managerial record shared by Bobby Cox and Joe McCarthy, according to MLB.com. The Dodgers went 18–7 in September as they prepared to pursue a third consecutive World Series championship.
Ohtani finished 5 for 21 in five games after returning from the injured list. Los Angeles now has five days before its playoff opener to prepare its lineup and pitching staff, with the final regular-season victory secured by Call, Pages and eight consecutive scoreless innings on the mound.
