“It was all about winning the game” LAMB Talks Record Night
CeeDee Lamb explains the coverage he saw on his winning touchdown and how Dallas finished its final drive in a 34–30 victory over Houston.

“I just knew if I ran my route and executed it perfectly the game would be over,” CeeDee Lamb said of his winning touchdown against the Houston Texans.
Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards in Dallas’ 34–30 win on October 4. His final reception was a 12-yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott with 40 seconds remaining.
Speaking with Devin McCourty on NBC’s FNIAccess after the game, Lamb was asked what the play call was and what he had seen before that 17th catch.
“We got the call we wanted. I saw he was outside leverage,” Lamb said. “I was watching how the safety was um guarding the tight end.”
“Then I looked outside, saw the corner, and then I looked at my guy. Obviously, that’s the triangle, you understand, right?”
McCourty asked whether Lamb had been surprised to find man coverage without a double team on the decisive play.
“That I was surprised about,” Lamb said. “They would have two on me. They would switch it up.”
“But on that time, we had the perfect cover, the perfect look, and I had to. I had to.”

The final drive
When McCourty asked whether he had been counting his catches, Lamb said his attention had been on the result.
“It was all about winning the game.”
Dallas began its final possession at its own 26-yard line with 2:15 left, trailing 30–27.
“And at that moment, I knew we had enough time to do what we had to do, you know, and I kind of cleared everything out of my head prior to that drive,” Lamb said.
Lamb also credited Jake Ferguson for keeping the possession alive. The tight end caught a seven-yard pass on fourth-and-four with 1:34 remaining.
McCourty then told Lamb that his 498 receiving yards through four games were the most at that stage of a season in Cowboys history, asking what the mark meant to him.
“It’s good to hear obviously, but I know there’s there’s more work out there, but as for me, just keep my foot on the pedal, man,” Lamb said.
“I feel like this is probably one of the best starts that I’ve ever had in my career. So, uh I want to build off of it, continue to keep working and be there for my guys, and I feel like the rest will come after that.”
