Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal beat Liverpool 1–0 at Anfield on November 1, moving three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. The victory ended Arsenal’s long wait for a league win at Liverpool’s ground.

Havertz finished Declan Rice’s low cross at the far post in the 16th minute. Sky Sports reported that Arsenal’s advantage over Liverpool grew to nine points, giving Mikel Arteta’s team a significant result against another club near the top of the table.

Opta’s match report recorded 17 Liverpool attempts without a shot on target. Florian Wirtz struck the crossbar with a free kick, while Alexis Mac Allister headed over when unmarked. Liverpool’s pressure produced opportunities but no equalizer.

The result left Arsenal with 24 points from nine league games. Opta said their previous Premier League victory at Anfield came in September 2012, with five draws and eight defeats across the following 13 league visits before Sunday’s breakthrough. Opta’s shot records begin in 2003–04, making this Liverpool’s first such home league performance across 442 recorded matches in that period.

Liverpool also appealed for a first-half penalty after Jurrien Timber pulled Alexander Isak’s shirt as the striker tried to reach a cross. No penalty was awarded. The incident became a central part of Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola’s postgame assessment.

Arteta told Sky that Arsenal had needed to recover after their midweek defeat to Fleetwood. He credited his players for handling difficult periods and producing quality when it mattered. Arsenal also threatened again through Christos Tzolis, whose low attempt Alisson saved.

Havertz’s goal carried an individual milestone: his 46th Premier League goal moved him ahead of Ilkay Gundogan as the competition’s leading German scorer. Arsenal combined that finish with their first league clean sheet at Anfield since the 2012 victory.
