Texas Tech Beats Arizona 34–26 to Match School Record With 13th Straight Home Win
Texas Tech rallied after halftime and matched a program record with its 13th consecutive home victory, beating Arizona 34–26.

Texas Tech matched its school record with a 13th consecutive home victory on Saturday, rallying to beat Arizona 34–26 after turning to Thomas Castellanos at quarterback.
The Red Raiders improved to 7–1 overall and 4–1 in the Big 12. Their home winning streak equals the program’s run from 1939 through 1942, according to Texas Tech’s official postgame notes.
Fifth-year senior Castellanos started ahead of Will Hammond following the previous week’s loss at Cincinnati. He threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing score as Tech recovered from a 17–10 halftime deficit.
An eight-yard Castellanos run tied the game early in the third quarter. After Arizona regained the lead, he found Kenny Johnson for a 27-yard touchdown on fourth down, putting the Red Raiders ahead 24–23.
Stone Harrington’s fourth-quarter field goal extended the lead before J’Koby Williams broke a 64-yard touchdown run. Arizona added a late field goal but could not erase the eight-point margin.
Williams finished with 175 rushing yards on 14 carries, and Texas Tech totaled 328 yards on the ground. The official box score credited the Red Raiders with 472 total yards against Arizona’s 429.
Noah Fifita passed for 417 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats, including a 94-yard scoring connection with Isaiah Mizell. Arizona gained only 12 net rushing yards, with Tech recording five sacks for 34 yards.
The teams combined for no interceptions. Tech converted two of its three fourth-down attempts, while Arizona was successful once in three tries, according to Arizona’s official final statistics.
The victory was Joey McGuire’s ninth against a ranked opponent as Texas Tech’s coach and his second this season. Arizona fell to 6–2 overall and 3–2 in conference play. The Red Raiders can establish a new home winning record when they host West Virginia on November 7.
