Report: Cardinals to Place Jeremiyah Love on IR With High Ankle Sprain

NFL Network reports a four-to-five-week absence for the rookie running back after he injured his ankle against Dallas.

Jeremiyah Love carries the ball against the Dallas Cowboys on November 1, 2026.

The Arizona Cardinals are placing rookie running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve because of a high ankle sprain, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. The reported recovery estimate is four to five weeks.

Love left Sunday’s comeback win over the Dallas Cowboys in the first quarter and did not return. He had missed Arizona’s previous two games with a different ankle injury before being cleared to face Dallas.

The No. 3 overall pick has rushed for 268 yards and one touchdown on 76 carries across six appearances. His largest rushing output came in a 21-carry, 90-yard game against San Francisco in Week 3.

Tyler Allgeier helped turn Sunday’s game after Love went out, but Arizona’s remaining backfield availability is also unsettled. Bam Knight is in concussion protocol. The Cardinals said Monday that James Conner, who is on injured reserve, was not ready to return this week.

An injured-reserve stint requires at least four missed games. Rapoport’s estimate describes the expected absence, rather than a confirmed date for Love to resume playing. The new injury interrupts a rookie season already affected by ankle problems.
