Ravens Sign Kedon Slovis to Back Up Joe Fagnano

The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Kedon Slovis from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad Tuesday, the team announced, adding him to the 53-man roster before Thursday’s game against Jacksonville.

The move gives Baltimore another option after Lamar Jackson suffered a thumb injury and Tyler Huntley hurt his toe in Sunday’s loss to Buffalo. Jackson is headed to injured reserve, while Huntley is sidelined. Coach Jesse Minter announced Tuesday that Joe Fagnano will start Thursday, according to ESPN and NBC Sports. Fagnano has an ankle injury.

Slovis, 25, appeared in two games for Arizona last season and attempted two passes. He completed 30 of 51 attempts for 328 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions across three preseason appearances this year, according to the Ravens.

The quarterback has a connection to Baltimore’s coaching staff. Quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork worked with him in Arizona, while receivers coach Keary Colbert was at USC during Slovis’ college career.

Baltimore also brought Austin Reed back to its practice squad Monday. Slovis joins the active roster to back up Fagnano as the Ravens prepare for the short turnaround against the Jaguars.
