Kubiak Says Ashton Jeanty and Mike Washington Jr.’s Workload Remains a “Moving Target”
The Raiders coach declined to make Sunday’s rushing split permanent while retaining both backs in the offense.

Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said Monday that the backfield workload remains a “moving target” after rookie Mike Washington Jr. received 25 carries and Ashton Jeanty had two in Sunday’s win over the Jets.
Kubiak declined to confirm a permanent change, according to NFL.com’s report of his remarks. He said Washington, Jeanty and Dylan Laube would all remain involved as Las Vegas evaluates its personnel from week to week.
Washington ran for 83 yards on 38 snaps in the 38–33 victory. Jeanty played 22 snaps, rushing for nine yards and adding three catches for 64 yards on four targets. Those receiving contributions remained part of Kubiak’s assessment despite the reduced rushing work.
The coach credited Washington’s improvement in practice and assignment work as factors in his expanded opportunity. He also praised Jeanty’s pass protection. The update did not establish that either player had secured a fixed share of future touches.
Las Vegas faces San Francisco next. Monday’s comments leave the role question open beyond Sunday’s uneven carry totals, with the coach describing a weekly evaluation rather than naming a new permanent starter.
