Rhamondre Stevenson Fantasy Outlook After Patriots Rule Out TreVeyon Henderson

Stevenson’s recent lead role supports a Week 8 PPR start at Miami, while the Patriots retain other backfield options. Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. EST.

Rhamondre Stevenson is a starting RB2 option for Week 8 in a 12-team PPR league that uses two running backs and a flex. New England has ruled TreVeyon Henderson out with an illness for Sunday’s game at Miami, strengthening Stevenson’s opportunity without guaranteeing a specific workload.

Why Stevenson is the preferred option

The Patriots’ Saturday roster analysis says Stevenson played 64.8% of the offensive snaps over the previous four games and 68% against Chicago in Week 7. That recent lead role is the main reason to trust him ahead of a speculative reserve who still needs an opening.

Corey Kiner and Lan Larison remain alternatives in the backfield. The Patriots signed Larison to the active roster Saturday, adding another available runner while Henderson is sidelined. Their presence means managers should not assume Stevenson will take every carry or every passing situation.

Stevenson’s official game log shows how different his production can look from one week to the next. He rushed six times for 22 yards against Chicago but caught five passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Against the Jets the previous week, he had 14 carries for 36 yards and no receptions.

Scoring format and lineup choice

Those performances make the scoring format important. PPR scoring rewards each catch, giving Stevenson another route to useful production when rushing volume is limited. In standard scoring, those receptions alone do not score points, so the receiving yards and chance of a touchdown carry more of the value.

FantasyPros analyst Derek Brown called Stevenson a strong RB2 in his October 29 assessment of the Miami matchup. The recommendation here stays in that range after Henderson’s absence: start Stevenson over an uncertain committee option, while keeping a healthy established top running back ahead of him.

Kiner and Larison are deeper bench considerations, not automatic starters merely because Henderson is unavailable. Saturday’s team report does not assign an exact carry split. Managers looking for a replacement should compare confirmed opportunities across their actual available players rather than treating every member of this backfield as equally playable.

Before lineup lock

Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 1, at Hard Rock Stadium. Recheck the official inactive list before the lineup locks. Keep Henderson out of the starting lineup; this week’s absence does not itself establish how long he will remain sidelined.
