Adonai Mitchell’s 142-Yard Game Puts Jets Receiver on Week 9 Waiver Radar

Adonai Mitchell is worth a Week 9 waiver claim for managers seeking receiver depth in a 12-team PPR league, provided he is available and the move replaces an expendable bench player. His production against Las Vegas supports adding him, but it does not make him an automatic starter against Kansas City.

Mitchell caught seven of nine targets for 142 yards and a touchdown on November 1. The Jets’ official report identified the yardage as a career high in their 38–33 loss. He also supplied a late 47-yard reception that moved New York into scoring territory.

That receiving line equals 27.2 points in full PPR scoring: 14.2 for the yards, seven for the catches and six for the touchdown. It becomes 23.7 in half PPR and 20.2 without reception points, assuming no yardage bonuses. These are calculations of Sunday’s production, not a Week 9 projection.

FantasyPros’ November 1 early waiver list included Mitchell after noting that he had missed four games and returned without a catch the previous weekend. The abrupt change makes the nine targets more useful to the decision than the touchdown alone.

The Jets reported that Geno Smith completed 22 of 30 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns against the Raiders. Their next game is at Kansas City. That upcoming opponent belongs in the lineup decision, but Sunday’s result does not establish how many passes Mitchell will receive there.

The recommended move is to secure him as a possible receiver or flex option while retaining a more established starter if the choice is close. In deeper leagues, a receiver who has just earned nine targets merits attention. In a short-bench league, the player being dropped may carry more value than another speculative option.

PPR managers benefit when receptions accompany the yardage, while managers using standard scoring are more exposed to whether the big plays and touchdowns repeat. Evaluate Mitchell against the role of the weakest receiver on the roster, rather than treating last week’s score as his expected weekly output.

This assessment uses the November 1 game and postgame reporting. Check the next practice reports and the Jets’ final player availability before locking a Week 9 lineup. If his role or health becomes uncertain, retain the steadier alternative already available on the roster.
