Oscar Collazo Vacates WBO Title; Ryusei Matsumoto Set for Elevation
Collazo’s decision canceled a scheduled purse bid, with the WBO saying it would issue a ruling elevating its interim champion.

Oscar Collazo has vacated his WBO 105-pound title, prompting the organization to cancel Tuesday’s purse bid for a mandatory fight against interim champion Ryusei Matsumoto.
The WBO said it received written notification from Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment before the bidding was due to begin at its headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to a statement published by FIGHTMAG.
Its World Championships Committee will issue a ruling elevating Matsumoto to full champion. The statement described that ruling as forthcoming, rather than presenting a completed elevation decision. The interim designation will end when Matsumoto is elevated.
Collazo still holds the WBA title at the same weight. He won the WBO championship against Melvin Jerusalem in May 2023 and made seven defenses, most recently stopping Jesus Haro in March.
Matsumoto is unbeaten in nine professional fights, with four knockouts. He won the interim WBO title by unanimous decision over Russell Acosta in September.
The canceled purse bid had been intended to settle terms for a fight consolidating the WBO’s full and interim titles.
