Dylan Lonergan Leaves Rutgers Loss to Northwestern After Head Hit
Rutgers’ quarterback did not return after a first-quarter collision.

Rutgers quarterback Dylan Lonergan left Saturday’s 42-14 loss at No. 24 Northwestern after a first-quarter blow to the head and did not return, The Associated Press reported.
Coach Greg Schiano ruled him out at halftime. AJ Surace replaced him before Sean Ashenfelder also played. No diagnosis or return timetable was announced.
Rutgers fell to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten. Northwestern improved to 6-1 and 3-1 after taking a 28-6 halftime lead, according to the Scarlet Knights’ official game report.
Antwan Raymond ran for 150 yards and a touchdown for Rutgers, and Clay Thevenin added 116 yards on 14 carries. Raymond’s 46-yard touchdown and Ashenfelder’s two-point conversion reduced the deficit to 28-14 in the second half, but Northwestern answered with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
Rutgers finished with 344 total yards, while Northwestern produced 502. Rutgers returns home to face Michigan on October 31. Lonergan’s availability for that game remains unconfirmed.
