Justin Ellis’s 29th-minute goal gave the United States a 1–0 win over Canada at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, on October 6. The U.S. finished the international window with four wins from four games.
Ellis scored from close range after Alex Freeman exchanged passes with Malik Tillman and sent the ball across goal. It was Ellis’s second senior international goal, following his debut goal against Peru.
Brian Schwake made three saves in his first U.S. start, including a second-half stop that pushed Luc de Fougerolles’ effort onto the crossbar. Canada finished with seven shots to the Americans’ five, but could not find an equalizer.
Mauricio Pochettino made six changes from the team that beat Mexico 3–0. Substitute Cole Campbell made his debut, meaning all 28 players in the squad appeared during the camp. The U.S. faces Haiti in November’s Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals.
