Ashley Sanchez and Mallory Swanson scored in the second half as the United States women’s national team recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw 2–2 with Spain Tuesday at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Spain led through Alexia Putellas and Salma Paralluelo before Sanchez pulled a goal back in the 49th minute. Swanson equalized in the 86th in front of 18,648 spectators, three days after the Americans lost the first meeting 2–0 in Washington.

Sanchez’s goal was her first for the national team since July 2022. Swanson scored her 39th international goal and became the 12th mother to score for the United States. Both players had returned to the team October 10 after nearly two years away.

Coach Emma Hayes made four changes to the starting lineup, including goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and midfielder Claire Hutton. Sophia Wilson and Michelle Cooper supplied the assists on the U.S. goals, while Pietra Tordin and Kate Del Fava earned their first national-team appearances.
