“And since I’ve started on the medication, I don’t really have a lot of issues,” Marshall Faulk said.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame running back and Southern University head coach discussed living with Parkinson’s disease in an interview with Dr. Sandeep Thakkar on The Caring Neurologist. TopHealth posted the 19-minute conversation on YouTube on October 21, 2026.

Faulk said he sought medical advice after noticing stiffness in his hand while playing golf. He initially thought the difficulty was connected to putting nerves, but questioned it when the symptoms persisted outside competitive situations. His doctor advised him to undergo further evaluation.

Asked how his routine had changed, Faulk said he was doing more. He said stiffness and occasional tremors remained, and that he paid attention to his walking and balance while exercising.

In a statement carried by WAFB on October 22, 2026, Faulk said he wanted his experience to encourage former teammates, other athletes and men more broadly to take changes in their health seriously and seek medical guidance. He described regular checkups as a priority and urged others to make time for their own care.

Faulk played 12 NFL seasons for the Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Rams. He helped the Rams win the Super Bowl following the 1999 season, earned NFL MVP honors in 2000 and entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Near the end of the interview’s discussion of his health, Faulk said, “I’m in a good place.”
