Laver Cup opening lineup puts Alcaraz and Fritz on opposite sides

Carlos Alcaraz will partner Jakub Mensik against Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik in Friday’s opening doubles match at the Laver Cup, which starts September 25 at The O2 in London.

The event’s Thursday lineup announcement also pairs Casper Ruud with Francisco Cerundolo in the opening singles match. Mensik then faces Brandon Nakashima, giving the Czech player two assignments on the first day.

Rafael Jodar meets Bublik to open the evening session before the doubles match, so Bublik will also play twice. The day session starts at 1 p.m. London time, and the evening session begins at 7 p.m.

Captains Yannick Noah and Andre Agassi submitted their opening selections through a blind draw. Europe will select first for Saturday and second for Sunday as the host team tries to regain the trophy from Team World.
