The World Boxing U19 World Championships opened Friday in Budva, Montenegro, starting the second edition of a tournament that runs through October 27.

Competition at the Mediterranean Sports Centre covers ten men’s and ten women’s weight categories. World Boxing’s tournament preview said 69 national federations had sent boxers to the event.

The organiser’s opening-day announcement confirms semifinals for October 25 and gold-medal bouts for October 27. October 26 is scheduled as a rest day.

All bouts will be available live and on demand on WorldBoxing.TV. The organiser says English and Russian commentary will be provided from the semifinals onward. Its event website carries daily schedules and results.

The first World Boxing U19 championships were held in Colorado in 2024. Budva is the first Montenegro host on the organisation’s official competition calendar.

World Boxing president Gennadiy Golovkin sent a message to the opening ceremony through technical delegate Michael Norford. The organisation said Golovkin is expected to attend the closing stages.
