Joe Dean and Grant Forrest share Open de España lead at 13 under
The pair lead by one stroke entering Sunday’s final round in Madrid.
Joe Dean and Grant Forrest share the Open de España lead at 13 under after Saturday’s third round in Madrid, one stroke ahead of three challengers.
Forrest shot a four-under 67, recovering from being four strokes behind Dean during the round. Birdies at the 14th and 16th, combined with Dean’s double bogey at 16, brought them level.
Forrest saved par at the 17th to maintain his share of the lead. Victor Perez, Jacob Skov Olesen and Joel Girrbach are one shot back, with Ángel Ayora sixth at 10 under.
Forrest entered the week 118th in the Race to Dubai. A victory would secure his place in the season-ending playoffs and mark his third DP World Tour title.
Forrest finished third at the Open de España in both 2021 and 2024, giving him two earlier finishes near the top of this tournament’s leaderboard.
Dean and Forrest were scheduled to play together in Sunday’s final group.
