Jaxson Dart’s regular season is over after two games, with Giants coach John Harbaugh confirming Wednesday that the quarterback will undergo surgery on his injured left knee. Jameis Winston will start against Tennessee this weekend.
Dart was hurt during Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Rams. NFL Network reported that his ACL remained intact, while ESPN reported damage to his MCL, PCL and meniscus. Harbaugh did not give a surgery date and left open the possibility of a postseason return.
Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and an interception in relief against Los Angeles. He now gets a week to prepare as the starter after being pressed into action during the Giants’ first possession.
Harbaugh said New York would add another quarterback and would consider a trade. Winston takes over the offense while the Giants work to rebuild the depth behind him.
