Jannik Sinner ended his 2026 season Tuesday, October 6, saying he would undergo treatment for the knee injury that has kept him out of competition since Wimbledon.
The world No. 1 said he and his doctors had agreed on the treatment in an Instagram video, the ATP Tour reported. He said “the 2026 season is officially over.”
Sinner won his fifth Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in July but subsequently missed the North American hard-court tournaments and the Asian swing. BBC Sport reported that the continuing problem affects his right knee.
The absence rules him out of the ATP Finals in Turin, where he won the title in 2024 and 2025. Olympics.com reported that he will also miss Vienna, Paris and the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna.
Sinner said his decision took his long-term career into account. The announcement did not establish a confirmed date for his next competitive match.
