Canelo Alvarez Calls for Terence Crawford Rematch Ahead of Mbilli Fight
Alvarez wants another meeting with Crawford, who retired last December, while preparing to challenge Christian Mbilli on October 31.

Canelo Alvarez wants a rematch with Terence Crawford as he prepares to face Christian Mbilli on October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with The Ring’s Mike Coppinger, reported by the magazine Saturday, Alvarez said he hoped to face Crawford again and believed he could improve on his performance in their first meeting.
“I hope that it happens again. I think we need it,” Alvarez said.
Crawford beat Alvarez by unanimous decision in September 2025 to win the undisputed super middleweight championship, then retired three months later. The Ring reported that Crawford has not declared that he is willing to return. Alvarez’s comments do not establish an agreement for a second fight.
Alvarez said he had watched their bout about five times and identified mistakes he wanted to correct. He underwent left elbow surgery a month after the loss.
His scheduled opponent is Mbilli, the WBC super middleweight champion, who is unbeaten at 29-0-1 with 24 knockouts. Alvarez expects Mbilli’s pressure and high punch output to produce an active fight when they meet later this month.
