Brandon Figueroa Withdraws From Tomoki Kameda Fight Due to Illness
The featherweight bout was called off after Figueroa missed weight Friday, leaving the WBA championship vacant.

Brandon Figueroa has withdrawn from Saturday’s fight against Tomoki Kameda in Las Vegas because of illness, The Ring reported October 17.
Sources told The Ring’s Keith Idec that Figueroa felt too ill to compete. The cancellation followed a missed weight Friday that had already cost Figueroa his WBA featherweight title.
Kameda would have remained eligible to win the vacant championship had the scheduled 12-round contest gone ahead. With the bout off, the WBA belt remains vacant. Figueroa’s withdrawal also removes Kameda’s opportunity to challenge for that title on this card.
The fight had been scheduled as the co-feature to Sebastian Fundora’s WBC super welterweight title defense against Ermal Hadribeaj at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The 10-round super middleweight bout between former WBA champion Armando Resendiz and Koen Mazoudier moves into the co-feature position, The Ring reported.
Figueroa won the WBA featherweight championship in February by stopping Nick Ball in the 12th round in Liverpool. Kameda previously held the WBO bantamweight title and lost a featherweight title challenge to Angelo Leo in May 2025.
