A’s Las Vegas ballpark takes shape as Athletic Club sells out

The stadium’s third and tallest roof arch is in place, while the A’s report a premium seating sellout ahead of the planned 2028 opening.

“As of this week, we’ve actually sold out of this club space,” Kelsey Bannister, the Athletics’ vice president of sales and service, said during a tour of the team’s future Las Vegas ballpark featured in News 3’s coverage.

The Athletic Club sellout accompanies another construction milestone on the Strip: completion of the stadium’s third and tallest roof truss. FOX5’s report showed the growing structure, while News 3 reported that construction remained on schedule for an opening in spring 2028.

The Athletic Club is reserved for premium season-ticket holders behind home plate. Bannister said its seating covers the first six rows. The team’s plans include a private restaurant and supper club, with table service and a separate lounge. Other premium spaces include the Diamond Club and Dugout Clubs.

The ballpark is rising on the former Tropicana site, with a roof designed by Bjarke Ingels Group in collaboration with HNTB.

“Five pennant arches enclose the ballpark – shading from the Nevada sun while opening to the soft daylight from the north,” architect Bjarke Ingels said in the firm’s project description.

News 3 described the project as roughly halfway finished following its June 2025 groundbreaking. In FOX5’s report, a project representative outlined the next stages, including connecting roof components and removing temporary supports to make room for more work at field level.

“You’ll start to see the shoring towers come out over the next couple of months as well,” the representative said.

FOX5 also reported plans for circulation around the main and lower concourses, technology intended to speed concession purchases, and displays recognizing the franchise’s history and retired numbers. Those features remain part of the planned fan experience as construction continues.

The team also intends to use the venue for concerts and other events outside the baseball schedule. Its official ballpark website continues to list Opening Day 2028 as the expected opening.
