Smith’s 206 receiving yards lead Ohio State past Iowa 31–14

Jeremiah Smith caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns as No. 5 Ohio State defeated No. 14 Iowa 31–14 on Saturday, October 3, at Kinnick Stadium.

Smith caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Julian Sayin with 12 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Buckeyes a 17–6 halftime lead. Their next scoring connection went 57 yards with 6:11 remaining in the third, widening the margin to 24–6.

Sayin completed 20 of 27 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He opened the scoring with a 15-yard pass to Devin McCuin, who finished with four catches for 80 yards.

Ja’Kobi Jackson’s seven-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter made it 31–6. Iowa answered with Braeden Jackson’s two-yard run and a two-point conversion, but did not score again.

Ohio State outgained Iowa 484–238 and allowed just 39 rushing yards. The Buckeyes committed no turnovers, while the Hawkeyes finished with two.
