Air Force quarterback Liam Szarka will miss the rest of the 2026 season after suffering a knee injury in Saturday’s 14-9 win over Navy, The Gazette reported Tuesday.

The Falcons announced Monday that the junior was out for the season, initially describing the injury as a lower-leg issue. Coach Troy Calhoun said in the team’s statement that Szarka would receive medical care aimed at returning in 2027, according to ESPN’s report.

Szarka was hurt late in the third quarter against Navy but returned after being evaluated. The Gazette reported that an MRI on Monday morning revealed the damage.

Sophomore Evan Medders is now atop Air Force’s depth chart. He has 109 rushing yards on 18 carries this season. The Falcons also have senior Josh Johnson, who started four games last year.

Air Force visits Northern Illinois on Saturday.
