Nick Chubb will sign a one-day contract Friday to retire as a Cleveland Brown, the team announced Thursday. The ceremony follows his August retirement announcement and opens a farewell weekend with the franchise where he spent seven seasons.
The four-time Pro Bowl running back is scheduled to attend practice and speak with reporters Friday. He will remain in Cleveland for Sunday’s home opener against Carolina, serving as Dawg Pound captain and performing the pregame guitar smash.
Cleveland drafted Chubb 35th overall in 2018, and he rushed for 6,843 yards and 51 touchdowns with the Browns. He played his final NFL season with Houston in 2025 after leaving Cleveland as a free agent.
A severe knee injury against Pittsburgh in September 2023 interrupted his Browns career, although he returned the following season. Chubb finished with 7,349 rushing yards over eight NFL seasons.
