Ole Miss climbs to No. 4 in AP poll after beating LSU

The Rebels climbed four places in the September 20 AP poll after a 32-24 win, while LSU dropped from seventh to tenth.

Ole Miss climbed four places to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 after beating LSU 32-24 in Oxford, turning Lane Kiffin's return into a significant early-season result for the Rebels.

The poll released September 20 dropped LSU from seventh to tenth. Ole Miss had entered Saturday's game ranked eighth and moved ahead of the Tigers after holding off their second-half comeback.

Trinidad Chambliss threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns, then supplied the go-ahead rushing score. Jaylon Braxton intercepted LSU's final pass into the end zone to protect the lead.

The Rebels joined Texas, Georgia, Alabama and LSU among five SEC teams in the poll's top ten. The conference had ten ranked teams overall, placing the Ole Miss result within a crowded early race for national standing.
