Monday Night Football Averages 19.3 Million Viewers Through Week 5, Up 16%
The opening five-week audience report, explained.

Monday Night Football averaged 19.3 million viewers through the first five weeks of the 2026 season, a 16% increase from the same point in 2025, ESPN said in an October 15 audience report.
The network said that was its strongest five-week start since it began carrying the package in 2006. That is a five-week average, not one game’s audience.
The Bills–Rams overtime matchup on October 12 averaged 19.8 million viewers across ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, NFL Network and ESPN Deportes. ESPN ranked it second among its Week 5 Monday night games, behind the Chiefs–Jaguars matchup last season.
The Peyton and Eli Manning telecast on ESPN2 and the season premiere of Monday Night Football Playbook with Next Gen Stats on NFL Network together averaged more than 1.1 million viewers. Those alternate presentations are part of the reported game coverage, rather than an additional audience to add to the total.
ESPN attributed the figures to Nielsen Big Data + Panel.
